Forward Madison FC has signed center forward Jeremiah Streng to a season-long loan deal from Finnish side SJK Seinajoki. The 20-year-old Finish striker spent the 2021 season playing with FF Jaro on a loan.
“We are excited to be adding a player of Jeremiah’s caliber to our group,” Forward Madison Head Coach and Technical Director Matt Glaeser said. “He has 1st tier experience in Europe and is young and hungry to prove himself and continue his development. He is big, strong and clean in front of goal. We anticipate him having a major impact on our team this season.”
Streng’s young career began in 2017 with his hometown team Vasa IFK in the Finnish third division. In his first season, Streng appeared in 30 games and scored an impressive seven goals. Streng has played 28 games for SJK Seinäjoki first team in every competition (league & cups) in 2019 and 2020 with three goals. He also played for SJK academy team, SJK Akatemia, in Finnish third tier during the 2019 season with 12 games and 9 goals. In 2020 he played with SJK Akatemia in Finnish second tier and scored 12 goals in 21 games.
During Streng’s career, he has played 27 Veikkausliiga games (Finnish Premier League) and 35 games with 17 goals in Ykkönen (Finnish second tier). In Kakkonen (Finnish third tier), Streng appeared in 42 games and scored 16 goals.
On the international stage Streng made his debut with the Finland U16 team in 2017. The 15-year-old, at the time, managed to play in four games and score a goal against Italy’s U16 team. Streng stuck with the Finland international squad and more recently scored three goals in his final eight games with the U19/20 teams.
Streng has proved he can be an effective attacker at such a young age, Forward Madison is excited to see the immediate impact the now-20-year-old will make for the pink and blue!
