SETTING THE SCENE:
Forward Madison FC finishes their three-game road stretch in California on Friday, March 29th against Central Valley Fuego FC. Forward finished with their second draw of the season, while Fuego was handed their first loss on the season against Union Omaha. The match is set to kick off at 9pm CT.
HISTORY VS. CENTRAL VALLEY
FMFC and Triumph have faced each other six times since 2022, and the ‘Mingos are 1-3-2. Last season, Forward Madison scored six total goals in the three matchups against Central Valley, three coming off the foot of Fresno native, Christian Chaney.
The last time these two teams played, Forward Madison came back late in the game to finish with a 4-4 draw. However, Madison has yet to win on the road against Fuego and will look to break the streak this weekend.
‘MINGOS LAST MATCH RECAP
On Saturday, Forward Madison finished scoreless on the road against Greenville Triumph SC, with a final score of 0-0.
Goalkeeper, Bernd Schipmann saved a Greenville penalty kick in the first half to give his team another point on the season. Offensively, the ‘Mingos had very few opportunities on goal, with only five shots the entire game and one on target.
KEYS TO THE MATCH PRESENTED BY THE BURISH GROUP AT UBS
Despite little attacking presence last week, look for Forward Madison to come hungry and dominate in the final third against Central Valley. Striker, Christian Chaney will be playing in front of his hometown, and records have shown his success against Fuego, especially on the road.
That being said, Forward’s defense will play a large part in giving its offense momentum. Look for another strong performance from Bernd Schipmann in the net and young defender, Michael Chilaka, to continue stepping up and holding strong in the backline.
