SETTING THE SCENE
Forward Madison FC returns to Breese Stevens Field to host Portland Hearts of Pine on Saturday, Oct. 17, with kickoff set for 5 p.m. CT. Madison enters the matchup looking to bounce back from a 3-2 loss at Westchester SC, where goals from Josh Bolma and Hakim Karamoko kept the Flamingos battling until the final whistle. With just two regular-season matches remaining, both at home, Forward Madison will look to collect three points and strengthen its push for a top-four finish and a home playoff match.
LAST MATCH RECAP – MAD v WES
MADISON, Wis. — Third-place Forward Madison FC took on Westchester in their last away match of the 2026 regular-season campaign. The ‘Mingos dominated possession in the first ten minutes, but it was Westchester that opened the scoring in the 13th minute through Blommestijn. The match remained back and forth with no major chances until Westchester claimed their second of the night through a quick indirect free kick right before halftime.
The ‘Mingos opened up their account after a spilt cross led to a Bolma finish that cut Westchester’s lead to one. It was Westchester that found the next goal against the run of play through a tidy finish from Elias. The rest of the match played out primarily in the Westchester half with Madison looking to close the gap. Karamoko was able to find another goal for the ‘Mingos with the last kick of the match, but it wasn’t enough to take any points back home.
KEYS TO THE MATCH PRESENTED BY THE BURISH GROUP AT UBS
Check out the UBS Keys to the Match as the Mingos take on Portland Hearts of Pine:
- Set the Tone Early
Madison controlled possession early against Westchester but entered halftime down two goals. Bringing that attacking energy while staying organized defensively will be key to taking control against Portland. - Keep the Pressure, Close the Gaps
The Flamingos will need to stay connected at the back as they push forward, limiting Portland’s opportunities to interrupt their momentum. - Carry the Spark Back to Breese
Goals from Bolma and Karamoko gave Madison life in Westchester, but the late attacking push fell short. Building on those attacking contributions at home could help the Flamingos collect three points as they pursue a top-four finish and a home playoff match.
