Dear Madison Pro Soccer Fans,
We have been working diligently, yet quietly behind the scenes since the Scarf Madison campaign ended last month. While the results of our work aren’t readily apparent, I can assure you that significant progress is being made on all fronts including:
-
THE NAME: The public vote is complete and we have agreed with the fan’s choice. The name of your team will be announced once the logo design is completed, merchandise is ordered and a public celebration is planned.
-
STAFFING: I am happily no longer a one-man shop. In addition to the tremendous support from Breese Stevens Field and Big Top Baseball staff, we have now added dedicated staff on the soccer side who are helping build Madison Pro Soccer via marketing, sales and community relations efforts. Next up is building the team.
-
THE HEAD COACH: This Thursday we will announce the signing of Madison Pro Soccer’s first head coach/technical director. And you are invited to join us! The media event begins at 4:00 pm this Thursday, September 27th at the Nomad World Pub, 418 E. Wilson Street. We are excited about this signing who we feel will bring a winning team to Madison. The announcement will be followed by a Meet and Greet until 8:00 pm at the Nomad, so you can meet your team’s first head coach. You are welcome to attend the announcement, the Meet and Greet or both. If you think you can stop by, please register on the event’s Facebook page here.
-
THE FIRST PLAYER: We have also signed our first player, a dynamic, attacking veteran professional who we are certain will be embraced by the fans and Madison community. His signing will be announced next month and you will be invited to a public event to celebrate this important team milestone.
-
OPEN TRYOUTS: We have scheduled Madison Pro Soccer’s first open tryouts. They will be followed by two days of invitation tryouts that will include the best from the open tryout as well as top candidates invited to try out for the team. The dates and other details will be announced next week.
-
LEAGUE GROWTH: Our league continues to grow. The USL D3 announced its rebranding to USL League One today and Madison Pro Soccer will be a charter member of the USL League One. Other teams including South Georgia Tormenta FC, FC Tucson, Greenville Triumph, Toronto FC II, Richmond Kickers, Chattanooga Red Wolves and Orlando City B as founding members. Additional franchise announcements will be made in the coming weeks.
-
SEASON TICKET SEAT SELECTION: Season ticket deposits continue to come in strong for the inaugural 2019 season. Those who have already placed their $50 per season ticket deposit will be able to select their seat in order of placed deposit. That process will begin after our new box office manager confirms the seating manifest and we have a chance to host an open house to allow fans to check their options. If you have yet to place your deposit, you may do so here.
Thank you for all your support as we work together to continue to build pro soccer in Madison. Feel free to reach out to me directly with any questions by email or on my mobile phone, 317-292-7993. I hope to see you all on Thursday.
Very Best Regards,
Peter Wilt
