Forward Madison has signed Goalkeeper Parker Smith. Smith, who is originally from Downers Grove, Illinois, has spent the last season playing for Kalamazoo FC in the USL League 2.
“Parker is a big, strong, athletic goalkeeper,” Director of Soccer Operations and Development Keith Tiemeyer said. “He adds depth to that position on our squad. Parker’s a first year pro, we look forward to him continuing his success that he started with NIU.”
Smith got his start in goalkeeping by spending time in Portugal during his youth career. After crafting his skills abroad, Smith returned to his home state to play for Northern Illinois University. Smith redshirted his freshman year, then started three matches his sophomore year. In those three matches, Smith did not give up a goal. After the collegiate season ended in 2021, Smith joined Kalamazoo FC of USL League Two. The 6’5’’ goalie played in 14 matches for the club, giving up just 15 goals and saving 43 shots during that span. Smith now joins Forward Madison FC looking to continue to craft his game at Breese Stevens Field!
