Club Neutral Elite Training Program For Local Players Aged 13 to 20 To Be Led By Aaron Hohlbein
MADISON, WI: Forward Madison FC of USL League One has announced the creation of a local training program to connect top boys soccer talent in Wisconsin with Forward Futures. The program will be supplemental to club soccer, keeping with Forward Madison’s commitment to Madison Area Youth Soccer Association Club’s to stay club neutral. Forward Futures will train twice per week from June through August primarily at Breese Stevens Field. The program will be developmental for ages 13 to 16 and include the Forward Madison and Eintracht Frankfurt camp. Ages 16+ will play several matches in addition to regular training. Select members of the group will have the opportunity to train with the Forward Madison first team.
Forward Madison has hired Aaron Hohlbein to lead Forward Futures and assist with youth development and training. He will also assist with the Forward Madison first team and FMFC camps. Hohlbein, who has spent the last nine years as an assistant coach at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, will be reunited with former co-worker and Forward Madison Director of Soccer Operations and Development, Keith Tiemeyer. Hohlbein, a Middleton, Wisconsin native, was a two-time first-team All-Big Ten selection and two-time captain. Following his decorated collegiate career with the Badgers, he played in Major League Soccer for four seasons.
“The Forward Futures program provides an incredible opportunity for top youth players to train in a high level environment,” Hohlbein said. “The program can lead to potential opportunities with the first team. Ultimately, the club is committed to helping high level local players reach their highest potential and that is exciting to be a part of.”
Forward Futures will begin training in early June at Breese Stevens Field. Training sessions will feature appearances from the FMFC first team staff and Forward Madison players. The goal is to offer a small scale, elite training environment to prepare players for high level collegiate and professional soccer.
“We hope this program will serve as a direct pipeline to the Forward Madison first team,” FMFC Chief Operating Officer Conor Caloia said. “We have committed to the local Clubs that we will stay club neutral and this gives us a chance to work with the Clubs and provide supplemental training. We are excited to launch a boys program with our sights on a girls program in the near future.”
