After a big Henny Derby victory in Richmond this past Saturday, the Flamingos return home for a USL League One matchup against Chattanooga Red Wolves SC. Forward Madison currently sits on 33 points, good enough for fifth in the USL League One standings, while Chattanooga comes into the match in last place with 17 points on the 2023 campaign so far.

Key Players to Watch:
Derek Gebhard: Gebhard did what he does best this past Saturday and caused havoc on the opposing defense. With his speed and direction on the wing with the ability to cut inside on both feet, Gebhard will look to take advantage of a porous Chattanooga back line on Wednesday night.
Jayden Onen: Onen opened his scoring account in the Pink and Blue this past weekend off of a beautiful one-time shot inside the box. Always the chance creator, Onen will partner with a red-hot front line to continue their goal scoring at home.
Bernd Schipmann: Saturday night was another prime example of how big Schipmann has been for FMFC this season. Facing a one-on-one situation in the box, Schipmann was able to use his body to thwart a dangerous attempt from Richmond, keeping the Flamingos in front and securing three points on the road. With FMFC expected to hold the majority of possession against Chattanooga, Schipmann’s ability to stifle counter attacks will be imperative to the ‘Gos’ success.
Key Match Up:
Christian Chaney vs Chevone Marsh: Top goal scorers for both squads go head to head at Breese Stevens Field on Saturday night. After coming off the bench and not scoring in Richmond, Chaney will look to get back into his scoring ways against a defense that’s given up 38 goals on the season, 1.9 average goals per match.
Keys to the Match:
- Use the Crowd: The FMFC faithful have been out in full force in 2023, creating the best atmosphere in USL League One. The Flamingos will look to jump out to an early lead and get the crowd into the match right from the get go.
- Set Piece Solidity: One of the reasons FMFC was able to grab three points on the road this past weekend was their ability to defend set pieces in their defensive third. Chattanooga will have a chance or two on set pieces in the match, and it will be up to Schipmann and the FMFC back line to cancel out those chances.
