Coaches and USL League One 2023 Records:
Forward Madison FC (10-8-8)
Head Coach: Matt Glaeser
Richmond Kickers (6-11-10)
Head Coach: Darren Sawatzky
Key Players to Watch:
Stephen Payne: The first time these two teams faced in Week 14, Payne scored the lone goal for the Flamingos in their 1-0 win. Look for Payne to give a spark to Forward Madison’s offense on Thursday.
Nazeem Bartman: Bartman scored against the Kickers during the second Henny Derby matchup, aiding in his squad’s 2-1 win. With Chaney and Cichero out with red cards, Bartman will need to step up and lead the attack for the ‘Mingos.
Bernd Schipmann: Schipmann recorded his tenth clean sheet of the season against One Knoxville on Saturday. The goalkeeper must have another big game against Richmond to keep Forward Madison in the playoff hunt.
Key Match Up:
FMFC Defense vs. Emiliano Terzaghi: After a solid defensive performance on Saturday, Forward Madison’s backline will be put to the test again. The Richmond Kickers attack is led by striker Emiliano Terzaghi, who has 10 goals on the season thus far, 9 of which have come from inside the box. The ‘Mingos defense will need to play tight coverage and not allow Terzaghi to have open space inside the 18-yard box.
Key to the Match:
Have Confidence Near the Box: In the last two games, Forward Madison has scored only one goal. With their leading goal-scorer out on Thursday, the ‘Mingos will have to rely on other players to step up and create opportunities near the box. In order to finish with three points against Richmond, FMFC players will need to put pressure on the Kickers goalkeeper early and often.
Previous and Next Match:The Flamingos come into this match after a 0-0 draw against One Knoxville SC. Next up, Forward Madison FC stays in Madison for another mid-week game, playing against Northern Colorado Hailstorm on Wednesday, September 20th at 7pm CT. Tickets for the match can be purchased here.
