Coaches and USL League One 2023 Records:
Forward Madison FC (11-10-10)
Head Coach: Matt Glaeser
Union Omaha (18-5-8)
Head Coach: Dominic Casciato
Key Players to Watch:
Christian Chaney: The FMFC leading goal scorer hasn’t scored since August 26th and will be crucial in leading his team to the playoffs on Saturday. Look for Chaney to create chances on frame, either in the air or on the ground. He will be the primary target the Flamingos will look for when beginning their attack.
Aiden Mesias: The last time these two teams faced, Mesias scored his first goal of the season. His ability to pass and move into tight spaces, weaving through the opponent’s backline, will make him a tough force to be reckoned with on Saturday. Whether coming on as a super sub or starting the game and setting the tone, look for Mesias to be a game-changer.
Bernd Schipmann: Schipmann has twelve clean sheets on the season, second-most in USL League One this season. The FMFC goalkeeper will need to have another shutout game to keep the ‘Mingos playoff hopes alive. Look for him to come up big against a strong Omaha offense.
Key Match Up:
The ‘Mingos vs. Themselves: The ‘Mingos control their own destiny on Saturday. It no longer matters what happened previously this season, so it’s up to the players to focus on the present and how to clinch the remaining playoff spot. The squad will need to show up, play hard, and stay disciplined the entire 90, especially since Omaha has nothing to lose.
Key to the Match:
Win and In: It’s the final regular season match for the Flamingos, which means they have one last chance to make the playoffs. A win on Saturday, and FMFC is in the knockout rounds. Better yet, they’ll have the chance to clinch on their home turf, in front of a crowd that creates one of the best atmospheres in USL League One.
Previous Match and Playoff Scenarios:
The Flamingos come into this match after a 0-2 loss to Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC last Saturday.
