MADISON, WI: Forward Madison is excited to announce that Matt Glaeser has signed a multi-year agreement and will return as Head Coach and Technical Director for the 2024 season. This is Glaeser’s third year with the ‘Mingos, as he looks to build off of a 2023 playoff appearance and lead the club to its first USL League One championship.
After FMFC finished 9th place in 2022, Glaeser and his staff completely restructured the team for 2023. With only four players returning, new talent was handpicked to gel with Glaeser’s values and strategy which resulted in a 6th place finish and USL League One playoff berth. FMFC lost to third-seed Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC in the USL League One quarterfinals 4-1. This was the second playoff appearance in the five-year history of Forward Madison FC.
“We look forward to continuing to build with Matt and his staff on the pitch,” Forward Madison Chief Operating Officer and Owner Conor Caloia said. “We believe in Matt’s vision for the Club and the direction he is headed. We are confident that stability and consistency on the technical side will lead to continued improvement in 2024.”
Glaeser was awarded USL League One Head Coach of the Month in June, during which the team held its longest winning streak. Forward Madison also recorded the most clean sheets in club history, 12, and ranked second-best in the league in this category.
“I am extremely proud and grateful to have the opportunity to continue helping our club progress,” Glaeser said. “I would like to thank our ownership group for their support and belief in me, my staff, and my players. Our fanbase is the best in the league, and we will do everything we can to reward them. Our goal is to advance the progress made this season and push for trophies.”
Fans can ask Glaeser and Chief Operating Officer and Owner Conor Caloia questions about the 2023 season and plans for 2024 on Monday, November 6th at 5:30 pm during the first FMFC Town Hall of the postseason.
