Forward Derek Gebhard Returns To Forward Madison FC For The Fourth Season
MADISON, WI: Forward Madison FC has re-signed 28-year-old forward Derek Gebhard, pending league and federation approval. This will be Gebhard’s fourth consecutive season with the Flamingos, coming off a season where he logged 33 appearances and 28 starts.
Gebhard consistently provided the ‘Mingos with offensive craft and flare last season. The forward recorded the second-most goals for the club (6), with three assists and a passing accuracy of 86.6%. Last season, Gebhard became the leading goal scorer in club history with 12 goals and counting during his career with Forward. He also has the second-most appearances in club history with 85 matches played.
“Derek was probably our most improved player in 2023, he came in fit, sharp, and hungry which led to him having a strong season,” said Head Coach Matt Glaeser. “He has 1v1 ability and pace to unlock opponent defenses but also has the mentality to work defensively. We feel that Derek can have another strong impact on our 2024 season and help reach our objectives.”
Before joining Forward Madison FC, Gebhard made a name for himself with the Jacksonville Armada in the NPSL from 2015-2018, as the winger posted six goals with the club. Following his time with Armada, Gebhard had a couple of brief stints with USL Championship clubs, El Paso Locomotive, and OKC Energy, before landing with the Charlotte Independence and ultimately finding a home in Madison.
The ‘Mingos will play their first home match of the season on Saturday, April 13th against Henny Derby rivals, Richmond Kickers. Season tickets for the 2024 Forward Madison season are on sale now. Secure your seats to every match, including the Home Opener, here.
