Forward Madison FC Re-Sign Defender Timmy Mehl
MADISON, WI: Forward Madison FC has re-signed 28-year-old defender Timmy Mehl, pending league and federation approval. The 6-foot-1 California native had an impressive debut with Forward, in which he logged 72 clearances, 10 blocks, and 34 interceptions in 24 games.
Despite going down with an injury late in the season, Mehl was a crucial piece to a strong backline that only allowed 44 goals in 33 games. The defender will look to continue his impact for the ‘Mingos next season.
“Timmy was a solid contributor for us last season and has proven himself to be a top defender in our league,” said Head Coach Matt Glaeser. “We’re fortunate to have a player of his experience and athleticism on our back line and we feel like he has even more to bring to our club in 2024.”
Mehl kicked off his career by playing four years of collegiate soccer at Indiana University from 2015 through 2018. Mehl was selected to the All-Big Ten team twice before he ended up signing with North Carolina FC in 2019. After one season with NCFC, Mehl joined Loudoun United for two seasons where he made 39 appearances. For the 2022 season, Mehl played with the Chattanooga Red Wolves SC, in which he logged two goals, 13 shots, and 85 clearances.
The ‘Mingos will play their first home match of the season on Saturday, April 13th against Henny Derby rivals, Richmond Kickers. Season tickets for the 2024 Forward Madison season are on sale now. Secure your seats to every match, including the Home Opener, here.
