Forward Madison FC and Featherstone Flamingos Release Black History Month Jacket
100% of proceeds to benefit YWCA Madison
In celebration of Black History Month, Forward Madison has teamed up with Featherstone Flamingos, one of the club’s independent supporter groups which aims to celebrate and promote Black culture, to release a limited-edition FMFC satin jacket. All proceeds will support the YWCA Madison, which aims to create a community where “all racial, ethnic, socio-economic and gender groups are valued and included, and discrimination and injustice are eliminated.”
The black satin jacket is a never-before-done product for the club, with blue and pink stripes on the collar and bottom to represent the team’s colors. The Featherstone Flamingos Black History Month logo adorns one of the sleeves, while a Forward Madison logo sits on the other. “Black Lives Still Matter” is proudly displayed on the bottom of the sleeve, near the cuff.
“We are dedicated to uplifting and celebrating our heritage and culture while remaining a pathway to conversations and connections,” said the founders of the Featherstone Flamingos April Kigeya, Kyle Carr and Chris Fox. “We continue building on our line with the Featherstone Flamingos x Forward Madison x Official League Summer Satin jacket and always promise to not only deliver style but also a message that should never be forgotten: BLACK LIVES STILL MATTER.”
The jacket will also be available for pre-order at the Featherstone Flamingos Black History Month Kickback on Saturday, February 24th from 6 to 9pm in the Forward Club at Breese Stevens Field. This free event is open to the public featuring music, snacks, programming, and a few player appearances.
