Forward Madison FC is back at Breese Stevens Field Wednesday for a special international friendly against FC Juárez U21, with several Flamingos Academy players getting the chance to take the field.

MADISON, Wis. — No. 3 Forward Madison FC battled No. 2 Charlotte Independence to a 1-1 draw Saturday night at Breese Stevens Field, earning a point in a matchup between two of the top sides in USL League One. Despite entering the match against the league’s No. 1 attack, the Flamingos’ No. 1-ranked defense held strong, and Breese Stevens Field remained a fortress as Forward Madison extended its unbeaten home record.
The Flamingos controlled much of the opening 45 minutes, consistently keeping play in Charlotte’s attacking third and creating opportunities, despite Charlotte finding the breakthrough in the 11th minute. Eddie Munjoma nearly connected with Stephen Annor early, while Ryan Carmichael and Collin McCamy also came close, as Forward continued to pressure the Charlotte defense.
Madison came out of halftime with renewed pressure, with Josh Bolma and Munjoma testing the Charlotte goalkeeper in the opening minutes. The pressure paid off in the 58th minute when R. Carmichael unleashed a brilliant strike to level the match at 1-1.
The Flamingos continued to push for a second, creating back-to-back opportunities immediately after the equalizer, with Jaylen Shannon and Kevin Carmichael making key defensive blocks. Charlotte hit the post in the 77th, but Madison continued creating chances of its own, including late efforts from Claudel N’Goubou and Munjoma.
Forward Madison nearly stole all three points in stoppage time when K. Carmichael’s header from a corner beat the goalkeeper but rattled off the crossbar. The Flamingos ultimately settled for a 1-1 draw, remaining unbeaten at home and firmly in third place in USL League One while holding the league’s top attack to just one goal.
“Proud of the boys for coming back and earning a point. We definitely felt like we could’ve taken all three, but we’re happy to keep the home streak going,” says Roman Torres.
“Proud of the guys battling. I thought we played very well. Thank you to the fans for making it loud and keeping the undefeated home streak alive,” says Kevin Carmichael.
