MADISON, Wis. — Forward Madison FC battled back in the second half to earn a 1-1 draw against One Knoxville SC at Breese Stevens Field.
One Knoxville came out on the front foot, but Jahlane Forbes made an early, vital defensive clearance to keep the Flamingos level. JT Harms was busy in goal, making several key saves throughout the half, including a big stop in the 30th minute on a dangerous one-on-one opportunity.
Madison created plenty of chances of its own, with Stephen Annor, Ryan Carmichael and Claudel N’Goubou all testing the Knoxville keeper, but were unable to find the finish. The Flamingos found more momentum late in the half, earning multiple corners and putting pressure on the Knoxville defense, but couldn’t find the breakthrough, going into the half even.
Forward Madison kicked into gear with a strong start holding most possession in the attacking third, creating many opportunities. A near goal in the 53rd minute, called offsides against Ryan Carmichael continued the momentum for Forward Madison. One Knoxville eventually broke through in the 73rd minute, but Madison continued to push.
A couple free kicks from Torres seemed promising for Forward to score, yet no goals. Things got heated late with multiple yellow cards handed out and a fight breaking out on the field as tensions rose.
In the 89th minute, Josh Bolma found the equalizer, finishing off a pass from Hakim Karamoko to bring Madison level. Another home match, another point, and the unbeaten streak at Breese Stevens Field lives on. The draw keeps the Flamingos in third place in the USL League One standings.
“It was a tough game tonight, but the team, as always, fought until the end, and we were able to keep our home unbeaten run,” said Bolma.
