LAST MATCH RECAP – MAD v SAR
MADISON, Wis. — Forward Madison FC maintains their unbeaten streak at Breese. With tons of challenges against the Sarasota Paradise defense, Madison was unable to pull ahead, and finished with a draw.
The Flamingos battled through a strong opening from Sarasota, with the away side controlling possession early on and putting Madison under pressure early. The Flamingos stayed organized defensively and found their own chances, coming close in the 11th minute when a turnover gave Claudel N’goubou an opportunity, but his shot was blocked. Just a minute later, Eddie Munjoma rattled the crossbar with a shot that nearly put the Flamingos ahead. N’goubou continued to create opportunities, setting up a dangerous cross in the 20th minute, but was unable to finish.
After several attacking pushes, Sarasota broke through in the 39th minute following a defensive miscue to take a 1-0 lead. Madison nearly answered just before halftime when the ball bobbled in the Sarasota goalkeeper’s possession, but the Flamingos couldn’t capitalize.
In the second half, the Flamingos immediately took control of possession and put Sarasota under pressure. Madison found the equalizer in the 54th minute when a dangerous cross from Geni Kanyane found Claudel N’Goubou, who finished to bring Forward level.
The Flamingos continued to attack, creating chance after chance in the box. N’Goubou came close again in the 69th minute, heading a cross just over the bar, while Kevin Carmichael and Ryan Carmichael each delivered dangerous crosses that narrowly missed a finishing touch.
Despite continued pressure and multiple chances, Forward Madison couldn’t find the winner, and finished the match in a draw. Forward Madison remains unbeaten in league play at Breese Stevens Field and maintains their third-place position in the USL League One standings.
With the team looking to build on its recent performances and continue its push for more points, midfielder Roman Torres emphasized the importance of maintaining that momentum. “We need to keep pushing at home, building on our momentum and picking up points,” Torres said.
KEYS TO THE MATCH PRESENTED BY THE BURISH GROUP AT UBS
Check out the UBS Keys to the Match as the Mingos take on Chattanooga Red Wolves SC:
- Second-Half Energy: Madison controlled the second half against Sarasota, spending so much time in the attacking third that JT Harms had little to do in goal. The Flamingos will look to keep that pressure high up the field and limit Chattanooga’s chances to build momentum.
- Build on N’Goubou’s Momentum: After scoring the equalizing goal, N’Goubou was a force on offense. Putting Sarasota in dangerous situations, Madison hopes to carry this attacking momentum.
- Road to the Playoffs: Forward Madison enters the match in third place with its postseason push well underway. The Flamingos need four more points to mathematically secure a playoff spot, making every result crucial as the regular season enters its final stretch.
