Match Action
MADISON, Wis. — Forward Madison FC is continuing its playoff journey and is headed to the Semifinals, after defeating Spokane Velocity 2-1 tonight.
Madison controlled much of the early possession in the attacking third and opened the scoring in the seventh minute when Ryan Carmichael beat a defender and crossed to Karamoko for a headed goal. Spokane responded with a header in the 10th minute, but Bolma restored Madison’s lead after a clever heel-flick pass from R. Carmichael, cutting inside and curling a right-footed shot into the corner just two minutes later.
Madison continued creating chances, with Bolma chipping over the crossbar in the 14th minute and Carmichael’s close-range header blocked in the 23rd. As Spokane pushed forward, Harms, Geni and Toure made key defensive interventions to keep Madison up at the end of the half.
Madison continued pressing after the break, with Josh setting up Torres for a shot saved by Spokane’s goalkeeper. Bolma’s promising chance from K. Carmichael was called offside in the 51st minute, while K. Carmichael also delivered a crucial clearance at the other end.
Toure anchored Madison’s defense with consecutive stops on Spokane. The first sparked an attacking transition that ended with Ryan Carmichael firing just wide of the right post. Madison maintained pressure in the attacking third, while Spokane’s late attempt sailed over the goal in the 90th minute. Madison clinches the win and is headed to the USL League One Semifinals.
