Ashwaubenon, Wisconsin, Saturday, October 27, 2018: Former Major League Soccer executive Dannon Anderson was named first general manager of Green Bay’s new USL League Two team Saturday. The announcement of Anderson’s appointment was made by Big Top Soccer’s Managing Director Peter Wilt at a news conference at the Green Bay Distillery.
Anderson, 23, is a DePere resident who spent a season with Big Top Baseball’s Wisconsin Rapids Rafters in addition to more than a year with MLS’ Philadelphia Union. Anderson is a 2017 graduate of Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa.
“I couldn’t be more excited to hit the ground running with Green Bay USL League Two. Big Top has a reputation of providing a high level of entertainment throughout the state of Wisconsin and we intend to provide an excellent experience at our soccer matches while putting a winning team on the pitch,” Anderson said.
Big Top Soccer’s Wilt commented on Anderson’s appointment. “Dannon has extensive sports executive experience that belies his age,” Wilt said. “There are not many people in this country that have worked in both MLS and lower division soccer at his age. Dannon’s passion for soccer and his Big Top Baseball experience with current Green Bay Bullfrogs VP John Fanta at Wisconsin Rapids are important, too. We’re very fortunate to have Dannon leading our soccer efforts in Green Bay.”
Anderson is a native of Nevada, Iowa. He has experience working in baseball, hockey, and collegiate athletics in addition to his experience working with USL League Two opponent Des Moines Menace. During his time in sports he has worked in concession and merchandise management and gameday operations while also gaining experience in both inside and outside sales.
