Green Bay USL League Two Announces Crest Designer
Thursday, February 7, Ashwaubenon, WI:
Ahead of announcing their team name, logo and colors this Saturday at 3:30PM at Green Bay Distillery, Green Bay USL League Two have announced their crest was designed by graphic designer Matthew Wolff. Wolff, 28, worked with Green Bay and Big Top Sports and Entertainment staff to create a crest that connected the team with Green Bay and local communities.
When asked why he chose to take on this project with the Green Bay team, Wolff said, “I love designing soccer crests because they reflect the special connection between a team and its community. Green Bay is known for its passionate sports fans. That really fueled my excitement for this project. I wanted to create a mark that would resonate with them and could last forever.”
Wolff has kept a focus on soccer design for more than five years, working both as a freelance designer and as a part of Nike’s design team. He has been a part of developing popular brands for lower level soccer teams like Oakland Roots and Minneapolis City, as well as MLS teams NYCFC and LAFC.
His most notable work with Nike is his work on the Nigerian and French World Cup 2018 kits.
“We were enthusiastic to work with Matthew on the project because of his experience working with other successful soccer teams through all levels of American soccer. Minneapolis City SC is an example of a brand that is easily recognizable locally, and teams like NYCFC and LAFC are examples of his work being popular internationally as well. Throughout the design process Matthew did a great job of keeping the crest connected to Green Bay and Northeast Wisconsin.” said Green Bay USL Two General Manager Dannon Anderson.
The team’s first home game at Capital Credit Union Park is slated for Friday, May 31st at 7:00 against WSA Winnipeg. Season and group ticket packages are on sale now. To purchase tickets fans can call 920-497-7225 or email General Manager Dannon Anderson at Dannon@booyahbaseball.com.
