Forward Madison FC and the Featherstone Flamingos have partnered together to design and release the FMFCxFeatherstone Legacy Hoodie, with 100% of the proceeds going to Urban League of Greater Madison. Featherstone Flamingos are a supporters group of Forward Madison FC who aim to celebrate and promote Black culture. This collaboration piece, celebrating Black History Month, is the second for FMFC and Featherstone, after releasing the Jesse Owens track jacket in 2021.
“This Black History Month piece is not about the individual, but rather the legacy created that can be carried forward,” Featherstone Flamingos member Chris Fox said.
The Legacy Hoodie was designed to pay homage to Black athletes that have graced the city of Madison and state of Wisconsin with their talents. Specifically, the hoodie has a baseball-style pinstripe made up of the word “Legacy” written over and over again. This design element is a nod to the Negro League game that was played at Breese Stevens Field in 1947. Legendary ace pitcher Satchel Paige of the Kansas City Monarchs famously defeated the Industrial League All-Stars 14-5.
“We believe it’s important to recognize Black excellence in the past and continue today to support organizations like the Urban League of Madison, who are shining lights in our community,” said Forward Madison COO and Owner Conor Caloia. “We are excited to be working with the Featherstone Flamingos again on this special release.”
The Urban League of Greater Madison aims to “ensure that African Americans and other community members are educated, employed and empowered to live well, advance professionally and contribute to the common good in the 21st Century.”
Pre-orders for the Legacy Hoodie are now live and will conclude on March 1st, 2022. Orders will ship and be available for pickup 3-5 weeks after purchase.
